It would be hard to find two acts that better represent the laidback spirit and the outsized ambitions of the Tortuga Music Festival than the headliners announced for the 2015 event on Fort Lauderdale beach: the Zac Brown Band and Kenny Chesney.
The two arena-filling country acts - Chesney returning to the stage he dominated at the inaugural Tortuga in 2013, and ZBB making a debut that always seemed inevitable - will lead a long list of performers April 11-12 at Fort Lauderdale's annual celebration of live music and ocean conservation.
A limited number of advance, two-day, general-admission passes will go on sale for $149 at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, at TortugaMusicFestival.com. You'll also have access to advance two-day VIP passes ($699) and Super VIP ($1,099).
Others scheduled to perform on the sand south of Las Olas Boulevard include native Florida heartthrob Jake Owen ('Beachin''); CMA-winning supergroup Little Big Town; honky-tonker Trace Adkins; South Florida-spawned country-rock vets the Mavericks; ska-punkers Sublime with Rome and Southern-fried rapper Colt Ford.
Also appearing will be Chase Rice ('Ready Set Roll'), Frankie Ballard ('Sunshine & Whiskey'), Chase Bryant ('Take It On Back'), Sam Hunt ('Leave the Night On'), country-grunge trio the Cadillac Three, rockers Dirty Guv'nahs, country quintet Old Dominion, envelope-pushing duo Maddie & Tae, outlaw-country singer Nikki Lane, crooner David Nail, newcomer Brooke Eden, the soulful Drake White and the Big Fire and folk-bluegrass band Judah & The Lion.
Regular general-admission, two-day passes will go on sale immediately after the advance tickets are gone, priced at $165, $799 and $1,299. Early-bird tickets disappeared in 90 minutes when they went on sale in November.
Single-day tickets traditionally become available a couple of weeks before the event and last year were priced at $89 each.
The Tortuga Music Festival is a production of the Rock the Ocean Foundation, the brainchild of Nashville music veteran and former Fort Lauderdale resident and diver Chris Stacey, and New Orleans-based HUKA Entertainment.
Taking its name from the sea turtles that nest annually along the South Florida coast, Tortuga's three stages of music surround the festival's Conservation Village, curated by Stacey, offering interactive, educational experiences from such organizations as the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, Shark Savers, Sea Turtle Oversight Protection, Florida Fishing Academy and Bonefish Tarpon Trust.
