Music, festivals and family fun on the cheap - The Tennessean

It is a big week with loads of musical talent, lots of festivals and other free and cheap fun. And there's some good shopping, too.

* First up is Saturday's expanded multigenre Musicians Corner, which this week features Melinda Doolittle and Revolfusion, as well as Choro Nashville, Viva Mexico and the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra. These free family- and dog-friendly musical lawn parties take place on Saturdays in Centennial Park through Oct. 25. But this week is extra special, since it will be an all-day affair (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) that is blended with the Celebrate Nashville Cultural Festival taking place all around Centennial Park. There will be 50 or more cultures represented in many ways, including music and dance. It is all free, including admission to The Parthenon.
