The inaugural Lone Star Music Festival, set for the second weekend in November, has been canceled by organizers according to that festival's official website.
'Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Lone Star Music Festival, planned for November 7 and 8 at Discovery Green in downtown Houston, is cancelled. Ticketfly will notify all ticket holders and process refunds,' said a statement on the site.
The Lone Star Music Festival was to take place at Discovery Green on Friday, Nov. 7 and Saturday, Nov. 8, with major headliners blink-182, Steve Aoki, Sublime with Rome, plus heritage acts like Roy Head, Jerry Jeff Walker and Joe Ely. Local stars Paul Wall, The Tontons and The Suffers were also slated to perform.
A spokesperson from Discovery Green confirmed the cancellation on Monday.
Tom Bunch with TAB Management and Mark Lacy, the executive director of The Houston Institute For Culture, were the names behind the festival. Tickets for the two-day event went on sale Aug. 16, with sales figures not known. Calls and emails to the organizers had not been returned in the weeks after.
They did not respond to requests for comment on Monday.
Locals seemed to be excited about the lineup and were pleased to have a music festival in Houston in early November when weather would be more agreeable.
